COVID-19 update

Dear Toro Sftball Families,

We hope this message finds you healthy and doing well. As we continue to navigate the ever evolving situation with COVID-19, we are making the necessary adjustments needed to comply with the federal, state, and local mandates. With the shelter in place order being given by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, our season is now delayed until April 9th or until further guidelines have been provided by the appropriate regulatory agencies.

The Board of Directors would like to emphasize that we are not cancelling the season. Rather, we are going to hold off on playing games or practicing until we receive updated information from health departments and the school district, regarding youth sporting events.

Due to the shelter in place order, and based on information provided by USA Softball, we cannot allow our coaches to hold any type of practice. This does not mean softball is cancelled! Have your players go outside and play catch with you, hit off the tee, soft toss/self toss, or fielding drills. Maybe they can do these drills as part of their PE needs for school!

We will continue to work toward solutions for our season with the health and safety of our players at the forefront of our thoughts. Please continue to watch for updates from the league as the situation progresses.

Stay healthy and be well!

Toro Board of Directors

****Toro Softball POSTPONED****

Dear Toro Softball Families,

Due to the closure of Washington Union School District (as well as ALL 24 Monterey County School Districts) through March 31 (and perhaps longer), we have no choice but to postpone our 2020 season for the time being. It is our hope to resume play when the school reopens, but that decision will be made based on developing information.

Please note: the school facilities are completely closed for use, which means no practice - team or personal - should take place on school grounds until further notice. The health and safety of our softball community is our main concern, and we will certainly keep you informed with any new developments.

In the meantime, we thank you for your understanding and wish you and your families good health and minimal stress.

Sincerely,

The Toro Softball Board
